Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police state preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
An important representative commented the incident rendered him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in 2020.
