Major Russian Attacks Disrupt Electricity Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Russian aerial assaults have led to blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and dealt with interruptions to water systems, per reports from municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the southern area, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has increased strikes on electrical systems over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, the EU and the major economies - in supplying air defence systems and implementing sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that 450 drones and several dozen rockets struck the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were working to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Several of the people hurt in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region endured heavy assaults overnight. A seven-year-old child died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults follow nights of air raids in the region, portions of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The entire country is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to spot.

Authorities told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated utility staff and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
